Licence Protector allows controlling of licences within a network 1) - without the need to install an activate programme/service on the server. The complete licence testing is done by the Multimedia Player on the workstation.
The only requirement for network licencing is that each PC has read and write access to the network folder, which contains the licence file.
3 different types of network licences are supported.
Licence per PC
Each PC needs a licence. The host name of the machine is used for verification. This licence is also called licence per seat. The licence is assigned to the machine after the first usage of the Multimedia Player.
If the application runs on a Citrix / Terminal server, then the hostname of the local PC and not the hostname of the server is used.
Licence per Windows User
Each user needs a licence. The Windows user name is used for licencing.
Licence per Concurrent User / Floating Licence
This is a typical license in a huge multi user environment. The licence is assigned only as long as the Multimedia Player is running. If the Multimedia Player is terminated, the licence is available again. If a user logs in with the same user name on 2 different PCs then 2 licences are used.
Licence Protector offers a sophisticated verification of concurrent user licences. Machines that hang or crashed applications are detected and the licence is released. This is all done automatically through the Multimedia Player.
All license types work also in a Terminal Server and Citrix Environment.
1) Network licence is a feature of the Premium version.
